Clinical Experiences

Students in the generic nursing program spend a large amount of their clinical time at The Valley Hospital which is designated as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Our clinical partnership with The Valley Hospital allows for professional interaction with the nursing staff at all levels of practice.

Other clinical affiliates include other local magnet hospitals: St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Health Network. We also have affiliations with local community agencies such as New Bridge Medical Center, Valley Home Care, Township of Garfield, Bergen County Department of Public Health, and many others.

Please note: Students are expected to provide their own transportation to the clinical sites.

• Nursing Study Abroad Programs

NSO (Nursing Student Organization)

The NSO informs underclassmen about the nursing field and provides them with advice about classes and good study habits.  They plan informative and social events for all nursing students.  The organization sponsors the Sierra Leone Awareness Event, which raises awareness and money for residents of the impoverished country.  69É«ÇéÊÓƵ nursing students also can spend time each summer in West Africa practicing medicine. NSO is also active in on-campus fundraisers for breast cancer and the Adopt-a-Soldier program.

Nursing Honor Society

Sigma Theta Tau International, 69É«ÇéÊÓƵ chapter, is the honor society of nursing and recognizes students with outstanding achievements in nursing.  The mission of the organization is to support the learning and professional development of nurses worldwide. Conferences, lectures, and career networking events are hosted by the organization throughout the year. Students are invited to apply once they earn a GPA in the Nursing sequence.
