Who is a first-generation student?

A first-generation student is defined at 69É«ÇéÊÓƵ of New Jersey as a student where neither parent(s) nor legal guardian(s) have completed a bachelor’s degree in the U.S.

Mission

The First-Generation Student Center at 69É«ÇéÊÓƵ of New Jersey provides purposeful support and engaging services to create an equitable environment for first-generation Roadrunners. The goal of the Center is to promote first-generation student success through learning experiences that cultivate a sense of belonging and encourage holistic student development.

Beyond making history for first-gen students and their families, the First-Generation Student Center also provides training and resources to campus community members to increase awareness and understanding of the lived experiences of first-generation Roadrunners.

Support First-Generation Roadrunners

69É«ÇéÊÓƵ of New Jersey welcomed an incoming first-year class in Fall 2023, with 47% of new students identifying as first-generation college students who are on their way to being the first in their families to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.  You can make a gift that will have a direct impact on a first-generation student, their family, and their community – as they boldly make history!
