  • The Center for Data, Mathematical and Computational Sciences (DMC) welcomed a new cohort of Masters students in our 4+1 year and 4+2 year three Masters Programs in: Applied Mathematics, Data Science, and Computer Science.

  • One of our graduates, Brandon Armstrong, began a master’s program in actuarial sciences at Columbia University.

  • The Math Club听jointhly with the RCNJ section of 听Pi Mu Epsilon and with a few other organizations co-sponsored听and brought to campus an internationally acclaimed听award winning play听“Truth Values: One Girl’s Romp Through M.I.T.’s Male Math Maze“. The play took place at听the RCNJ’s Berrie Center stage.
  • 听Math Club听organized many of its activities. One of the club’s听guest speakers this year was Samantha Pezzimenti, an alumna of 69色情视频 who is attending a Ph.D. program in mathematics at Bryn Mawr College.听The club held its faculty vs. students kickball game at the end of the academic year.

  • 7th annual听Spuyten Duyvil Undergraduate Mathematics Conference听was hosted at 69色情视频 in the spring semester and it was a great success. Its location varies from year to year. Click听here听to see this year’s conference website.

  • 听Math Club,听among its activities, organized a trip to see a talk by a famous author Dr. Gunter Ziegler titled “Proofs from the BOOK: Putting pieces together”. The talk was held in New York City and it was an international event co-sponsored by the German Mathematical Society. This year Math Club also held a panel discussion with the panelists being local math teachers who spoke on a variety of topics such as: how to apply for jobs, how to choose the right district, the tenure system, daily life as a teacher, etc.听 The club held its faculty vs. students kickball game at the end of the academic year.
  • Two teams, of 3 Ramapo students each, participated in the听New Jersey Undergraduate Mathematics Competition听held at the Garden State Undergraduate Mathematics Conference. The trip was organized by the RCNJ chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon. Our top Ramapo team, consisting of Shauharda Khadka, David Tong and Dobromir Yordanov, won the 8th place as a team at the competition (out of approximately 33 teams competing). Shauharda Khadka placed 8th in the individual competition (out of approximately 99 individuals competing). Teams听from New Jersey and nearby states took part in the competition.   • News on our recent听math graduates: James Caldera will be attending a graduate program in mathematical finance at Vanderbilt University. Samantha Pezzimenti will be attending a graduate program in mathematics at Bryn Mawr College. Benjamin Warren has been accepted to a graduate program in mathematics at Arizona State University.
  • Faculty-student research projects听in mathematics were completed by the following students: Adrianna Loback (advisor: Dr. Gillespie), Samantha Pezzimenti (advisor: Dr. McFeron), Corey Yuhas (advisor: Dr. McMurdy).

  • Math Club,听among its activities, organized a trip to the MAA-NJ/GSUMC mathematics conference in Spring 2010. It organized a community service of tutoring upper level mathematics courses at 69色情视频 and an off-campus community service consisting of a discussion panel at Mahwah High School on “Majoring in Mathematics”. This year’s Math Club’s invited speakers was Dr. Brian Winkel from the West Point Military Academy who gave an interesting talk on Cryptology. This year Math Club also held a panel discussion with the panelists being local math teachers who spoke on a variety of topics.
  • Results of听faculty-student research听projects were presented at one of the math club meetings: Samantha Pezzimenti (advisor: Dr. McFeron), Keith Veenhizen (advisor: Dr. McMurdy).

It organized a community service of tutoring upper level mathematics courses at 69色情视频 and an off-campus community service consisting of a discussion panel at Mahwah High School on “Majoring in Mathematics”. This year’s Math Club’s invited speakers were: a world-famous historian of mathematics, Dr. Ruediger Thiele 听(“Did the Greeks know real numbers?”), a senior actuarial analyst听 Rob Curry (“Becoming an actuary”), and a former Wall Street’s financial mathematician and a听69色情视频 mathematics graduate Aridam Kundu (“Math finance and quantitative trading strategies”). They addressed the frequently asked question by mathematics majors of “What can a mathematics majors do besides teaching” and gave career advice.听 Dr. J. Gillespie and Dr. D.   • Math Club,听among its activities, organized a trip to the MAA-NJ/GSUMC mathematics conference in Spring 2009, and a trip to the Liberty Science Center. It organized a community service of tutoring upper level mathematics courses at 69色情视频 and an off-campus community service consisting of a discussion panel at Mahwah High School on “Majoring in Mathematics”. This year’s Math Club’s invited speakers were: Ramapo mathematics alumni (Jessica Crane, Kevin Olson) currently employed by Prudential, four high school mathematics teachers, Ramapo mathematics alumnus (Atanas Frengov) currently employed by Google. They addressed a frequently asked question by mathematics majors of “What can a mathematics majors do besides teaching” and gave career advice.   • A team of 3 Ramapo students, consisting of Viktor Vasilev, Adrian Maries and Alexandru Maries won the听3rd place in school ranking at the NJ mathematics competition听at the Garden State Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, trailing only behind the Princeton and Rutgers teams. 26 teams听 from New Jersey and area colleges took part in the competition.   • Three Ramapo mathematics students, Michelle Jastrzembski, Detelina Stoyanova (advisor: S. Kuplinski) and Zulma Valcarcel (advisor: Dr. Weng) presented the results of their听undergraduate student research听at the Ramapo’s听Student Research Symposium.
  • 听Math Barbecue听for Math Majors and Faculty took place in May 2007 – courtesy of Dr. Weng.
  • 听Dinner for Math Majors and Math Alumni听took place in March 2007. (organized by the mathematics faculty, co-sponsored by the Dean of Students and Alumni office). The Alumni were happy to be back and gave some useful career advice to the current mathematics majors.
  • Math Club听among its activities organized a trip to the MAA-NJ mathematics conference in Fall 2006 and organized tutoring mathematics at a local community center as well as on campus.听 It also hosted two guest speakers. Dr. Jerry Ianni gave a talk on听 “Mathematics and Music”. Dr. Potocka gave a math club talk on “Careers in Mathematics”.
  • In April 2007, Dr. Weng along with a few Ramapo students judged posters at the North Jersey Regional Science Fair for high school students.
