Business聽Analytics聽studies data in order to identify patterns or trends that can then be used to predict聽future聽patterns or trends, allowing businesses to make better decisions.聽 We live in a time when large amounts of data are being collected, in almost every aspect of society鈥攁nd there is a tremendous demand for people with聽analytics聽skills.聽聽 The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a strong demand for people with business聽analytics聽skills well into the next decade.

The new Business聽Analytics聽minor is available to any major to add to their marketable skills and knowledge.

Goal 1: Foundation: Our students will have a broad-based knowledge in the functional areas of business analytics.

Outcome 1: Students will comprehend principles and practices in key business analytics disciplines.

Goal 2: Communication: Our students will demonstrate effective visualization of data skills.

Outcome 1: Students will effectively present the results of business analytics cases visually using graphics.

At least 1/2 of the courses fulfilling a minor must be distinct from the student鈥檚 major. That is, three of the six courses required for a minor cannot be used towards fulfillment of major requirements. A school core does not need to be completed for a minor. Minors are open to students regardless of school affiliation.
