Dr. Priyanca Mathur

Refugees have been fleeing the southeast Asian state of Myanmar and taking refuge in India鈥檚 capital city New Delhi and its north-eastern states of Manipur and Mizoram. The lives of these refugees are totally dependent on the ad hoc and politically expedient policies of the Indian state, which is neither a signatory of the UN Refugee Convention nor basing its actions on any national legislation.

Dr. Mathur will speak about the hyper-securitized lens through which the Indian state is approaching Myanmarese refugees and media complicity.聽
