But, even if we agree on the science, we still have to answer the economics of climate change. Is climate change all-bad, or are there benefits? If climate change is harmful, is it worth trying to slow down, and how quickly? What measures should governments take, and do existing policies actually achieve their stated goals? Why does something as basic as the discount rate, drive the entire debate on climate change? How should businesses plan for both climate change and the government policies associated with it? Dr. Robert P. Murphy <\/strong>is chief economist for the Institute for Energy Research. He has written peer-reviewed articles and testified before Congress on the economics of climate change. Murphy holds a Ph.D. in economics from New York University, and is currently a Research Assistant Professor with the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University. He is the author of numerous books, including <i>Choice: Cooperation, Enterprise, and Human Action <\/i>(Independent Institute 2015), which, is a distillation of the work of the Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises.
