{"id":1789,"date":"2023-05-15T10:36:16","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T14:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/oss\/?page_id=1789"},"modified":"2025-08-12T13:31:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T17:31:32","slug":"alternative-testing-for-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/oss\/alternative-testing-for-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Alternative Testing\/Exam Requests for Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Alternative Testing\/Exam Requests for Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Fall\/Spring Semester:<\/strong> The OSSOnline exam reservation system is taking exam reservations <\/span><b>for in-person proctoring typically Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.<\/b><b>\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Exam reservations must be made <\/span><b>no later than 7 days (excluding holidays)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> prior to the scheduled exam and<\/span><b> 14 days prior to the scheduled final exam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. After logging into OSSOnline, email <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">osstests@ramapo.edu<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with any alternative testing needs or problems. Screenshots with any difficulties with the OSSOnline \u2013 exam reservation are helpful to submit when emailing OSSTests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>For online\/virtual courses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: OSS students <\/span><b>must follow up with their instructor directly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and no later than 7 days (excluding holidays) prior to the scheduled exam \u2013 and 14 days prior to final exams to address alternative testing needs for any virtual class. If you need help, please email the Alternative Testing staff at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">osstests@ramapo.edu<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Faculty:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> You will receive an electronic copy of your student\u2019s accommodations, which will include the link for the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Faculty Alternative Testing Agreement.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Faculty may consult the student\u2019s OSS counselor or Alternative Testing staff to discuss how they might accommodate their students\u2019 alternative testing arrangements. For in-person courses, proctoring assistance will be available through the Alternative Testing staff at OSS, Monday to Friday. OSS students will submit an exam reservation through OSSOnline no later than 7 days prior to the scheduled on campus exam and 14 days prior to the on campus final exam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2f2f2f;font-family: proxima-nova, sans-serif;font-size: 20px;font-weight: bold\">Alternative Testing for Students: the Process\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-11 \" style=\"float: none; margin: 0 auto;\"><div class=\"boxContent\">\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>To-Do #1: Request Exam Accommodations<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Log into OSSOnline to review your courses and select your accommodations for the semester.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s a good idea to be in touch with your OSS Counselor, and definitely contact them if you have any questions!<\/li>\n<li>After you select the accommodations you choose in OSSOnline, your OSS Counselor is notified to review and approve your accommodations. <em><strong>It&#8217;s best to request your accommodations the week prior to the start of classes.<\/strong> <\/em>Your Counselor will e-mail you and your Instructors copies of your Accommodation Notice (FYI: after the initial notice is sent, you can log into OSSOnline and print out extra copies of the Accommodation Notice yourself!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>To-Do #2: Connect with your Instructor to Review Accommodations<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Connect with your instructors to discuss your accommodation plans and how proctoring will be handled if you are planning on using testing accommodations.<\/li>\n<li>If the instructor will be proctoring your exams, you are set.<\/li>\n<li>If you need OSS to proctor your exam, you will need to submit Exam Requests (also known as setting testing appointments) through OSSOnline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>To-Do #3: Submit Exam Requests<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Check your syllabi early, so you can submit Exam Requests in a timely manner.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>During the semester, requests must be submitted at least 7 days in advance (excluding holidays) for a scheduled exam and 14 days in advance of final exams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>To-Do #4: Two to Three Days Before Your Exam<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Check your e-mail or touch base with your Instructor to make sure your exam accommodations are all set up.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you have the materials you need to bring to the exam.<\/li>\n<li>Lastly, get a good night&#8217;s sleep!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>To-Do #5: Day of Exam<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Be on time!<\/strong> Depending on the setup of the exam, your proctor may not be able to proctor longer than your scheduled, accommodated, extended time.<\/li>\n<li>Bring all approved exam tools and materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Alternative Testing for Students: a Shared Responsibility<\/h4>\n<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-11 \" style=\"float: none;
