There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. with an artists talk at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition continues through March 3. The exhibition features a variety of strange and whimsical works created in various media ranging from animation to numerous ceramic sculptures. Paek makes the following statement about her work: My background is in animation, which I used to discuss narratives and experiment with ways stories can be told without words. Transitioning into sculpture, I examine the ways nostalgia and power can be contained in objects as visual representations of our collective stories and memories. In the same way a boulder on a hill stores potential energy, a banana peel on the floor can be viewed as the set-up to a joke, storing potential ha-has. Knowing this might cause a smirk, without any real action taking place. My sculptures use this potential to construct narratives on the precipice of the familiar and strange; to explore grief and hope with humor. Artists Biography Eun-Ha Paek was born in Seoul, Korea. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her animated films have screened in the Guggenheim Museum, Sundance Film Festival, and venues internationally. Grants and awards include a Travel and Study Grant from the Jerome Foundation (2008) and the Anna Siok Award from Greenhouse House Pottery (2014). Her work has received mentions in The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly and G4 Tech TV. She has been a guest lecturer at Rhode Island School of Design and Fashion Institute of Technology, and a visiting critic at Maryland Institute College of Art. This project at Ramapo is funded in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts /Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Pascal Gallery is located in the Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the 69ɫƵ campus. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. For more information contact Sydney Jenkins at 201-684-7147. ### Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top in the Best Regional Public Universities North category, 69ɫƵ of New Jersey is sometimes viewed as a private college.
