An opening reception and artists talk will be held March 28 from 5 7 p.m. Freund, a visual arts professor at 69ɫƵ, has long photographed what could broadly be termed the American scene, whether its people or, more often, the land. One of his latest projects, for instance, involved traveling throughout the United States photographing playgrounds. For an earlier project, supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Freund photographed at gas stations in 47 states. His photographs are constructions created from elements commonplace, immediately recognizable, but somehow unfamiliar. The artist says that although his photographs begin with an attraction to an event or scene, their larger meaning lies in the relationships he discovers in the surrounding environment and establishes in his frame. The selection of photographs for this exhibition comes from more than ten bodies of work, some comprised of thousands of images. Freund has shaped the exhibition to reflect not only his preferences, but to include works that provide connection and continuity among them. (more) - 2 - Freund has exhibited at the Light Gallery, New York and the George Eastman House. His work is included in collections at MOMA, Corcoran Gallery and Bibliotheque Nationale. This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Kresge and Pascal Galleries are located in the Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at 69ɫƵ. Hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, 1 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 201.684.7147. # # # # 01YZ[no(4E65 B*phjCJOJQJU0JCJOJQJjCJOJQJUjCJOJQJU CJOJQJ()Vv _ f g h i j k q r s $a$dh`$`a$dh()Vv _ f g h i j k q r s / =!"#$%DyK bfrankli@ramapo.eduyK 6mailto:bfrankli@ramapo.eduDyK rmulryan@ramapo.eduyK 6mailto:rmulryan@ramapo.edu i4@4NormalCJOJPJQJmH <@< Heading 1$@&5CJOJQJ@@ Heading 2$$dh@&a$5PJ00 Heading 3$@&588 Heading 4$@&`5<A@<Default Paragraph Font<B< Body Text$dha$ B*phBP@B Body Text 2$dha$ 5B*ph.U@.
