Research on mindfulness has shown the benefits for teachers, administrators and students:

Solid data-based evidence has built up over the last thirty-five years on the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation in the classroom. The big question really is – Can your school afford NOT to bring mindfulness into teachers’ and children’s lives?

Simply stated, mindfulness is “The awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgments (Jon Kabat-Zinn).” Neuroscience studies are suggesting that mindfulness meditation reliably and profoundly alters the structure and function of the brain to improve the quality of both thought and feeling. (Hahn, T.N., Weare, K., 2017). Teachers face many stresses in our fast moving, technology soaked environment. The tools and strategies of contemplative pedagogy help to enhance and complement state standards and district goals and outcomes. The tools of mindfulness are effective pedagogy, enhancing the classroom culture, the school, culture, and each student’s capacity for attention, compassion, self-management, and cognitive development.

Mindfulness at 69色情视频 will work with you to find the right program to help create a more compassionate, creative and collaborative school culture and ethos. We offer several options of programs which adhere to the standards and quality of all of our programs.

The below programs can be held at your school/district or at 69色情视频.

Learn the basics of a meditation practice at this introductory session. The program will briefly review the meaning and benefits of mindfulness practices, and then present an experiential introduction to breath-based meditation practice. Suggestions will be offered on how to integrate a simple, but effective, mindfulness practice into one’s everyday work day and life.

Expanding on the 1½-hour introduction, this half-day workshop allows more time for participants to learn and experience the benefits of meditation and learn some basics about integrating mindfulness practices into their workplace and life. The half-day workshop provides additional time for the experiential component and is more exploratory than explanatory. Periods of silence will allow participants to turn inward and increase self-awareness and begin to cultivate their own practice in a meaningful way. Through these meditative practices, participants can begin to experience the benefits of mindfulness first-hand. The resulting clarity and lasting balance that these practices bring will contribute to a more positive classroom and school environment.

Would you like to try yoga in your classroom? Have you tried it and would like to learn more? This workshop will address methods and benefits of using mindful yoga in the classroom in support of emotional and cognitive development. Methods will cover K-12 hands-on approaches in parallel workshops for teachers. Discover the research that supports the academic and emotional benefits of Yoga in the classroom.

This workshop is appropriate for K-12 classroom teachers, administrators, special educators, school counselors, school social workers, occupational therapists, SLPs, physical therapists, physical education teachers, health educators, and paraprofessionals.

Participants will:

This is a more detailed workshop with time to explore various forms of meditation practice including sitting meditation, mindful movement and mindful listening. Participants will learn how to make the most of their time-when to recharge, reflect and relax.

During periods of silence, participants will be encouraged to turn inwards and begin to observe thought patterns and habitual tendencies that may lead to stress. The focus is on developing an awareness of what is actually happening in our bodies and minds moment-to-moment. By using curiosity and self-compassion to observe our experience we begin to create a flexibility of mind that fosters clarity, creative problem solving, greater self-regulation, and a broader perspective from which new possibilities can emerge.

This highly experiential workshop will allow participants to explore how mindfulness meditation practices can help us be more present in our daily lives, respond with compassion and kindness and avoid the trap of succumbing to automatic reactive patterns. We will begin to understand the power of mindfulness practices in building awareness, focus and concentration. These practices have been proven to provide individuals with greater clarity and a lasting balance that will contribute to a more positive workplace and home environment.

We will alternate periods of meditation, mindful walking, and gentle movement. A guided reflection and mindful listening exercise will be used to focus on improving communication skills with time for group discussion and Q & A. Participants will see how mindfulness can help them re-perceive their stressors, and increase personal resilience.

This Series offers educators an extended time period to experience the 5 literacies of mindfulness practice. In these experiential workshops teachers will learn mindfulness practices that enhance overall well-being and promote clarity, balance, and compassion. Participants will experience various forms of mindful movement and be exposed to a variety of guided meditations, learning to cultivate present-moment awareness and awaken their innate capacity for calm. Thought the focus centers on helping educators to develop their own practice, each session will be accompanied by a multi-age lesson that maybe introduced to the teacher’s students if they choose.

Participants in this eight-session Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course participate in a hands-on, carefully sequenced training in mindfulness practices involving breath and gentle body movements, as well as methods for incorporating mindfulness practices into their everyday life and work. The course, created by John Kabat-Zinn at the UMass Medical School, is extensively researched and highly successful. It includes all of the practices introduced in our shorter form workshops and more, with the opportunity to go much deeper and achieve more lasting change. The course puts the practice of mindful pedagogy on a solid foundation of practice-based knowledge. These practices help educators to be fully present for their students, colleagues and families, and increase well-being both in and out of the school environment.

For more research on mindfulness in schools, please visit https://www.ramapo.edu/mindfulness/research-news-links/

K-12 Event Inquiry Request Form
