The Academic Review Committee (ARC) is a standing committee of the Faculty Assembly charged with reviewing academic policies, evaluating new programs and program revisions, reviewing new courses and course revisions, and making recommendations to the Faculty Assembly.<\/p>\n

2025-26 ARC Application Due Dates & Important Info<\/h3>\n

Per our ARC Manual, last updated in spring 2024<\/a> (PDF), ARC accepts applications on a rolling basis. All new\/revised course proposals received by October 15, 2025 <\/strong>will be reviewed in the fall 2025 semester; all new\/revised program proposals received by November 1, 2025 <\/strong>will be reviewed in the fall 2025 semester. All applications received by February 15, 2026 <\/strong>will be reviewed in the spring 2026 semester. ARC reviewing an application does not guarantee that the changes will appear in the following year’s course catalog, as we are not the final step in the review process.<\/p>\n

All ARC proposals must be submitted electronically via the new CourseDog<\/a> course management system adopted by the College. If you did not attend a CourseDog training session, here is a recording<\/a>; the password to view this training is: qEDja4Mw<\/p>\n

The earliest that applications submitted in the 2025-2026 academic year can take effect is in the following academic year\/catalog: 2026-2027. Please check the activity log in CourseDog<\/a> to follow your application’s progress after you submit it.<\/p>\n

Here is a Summary of the 2025-26 ARC Application Process.<\/a><\/p>\n

Before filling out your 2025-26 ARC application, you must do the following:<\/p>\n

  1. Please discuss your application with all faculty, convening groups, and academic units\/deans impacted by your proposal. If you apply, for example, to have a HIST course also count for the MKTG major, conversations about your proposal in the HIST and MKTG convening groups and HGS (HIST) and ASB (MKTG) units should occur before you begin your ARC application. Once all relevant convening groups and units\/deans have endorsed your application, please reach out to your ARC unit rep (listed at the bottom of this page), letting your rep know that all relevant convening groups\/units\/deans support your application. Your rep will then look over any related syllabi and discuss other elements of your application, ensuring that everything is complete, so that your proposal is not sent back to you for revisions. If any questions come up along the way, your rep is there to help guide you.<\/li>\n
  2. Every ARC proposal should have a brief rationale explaining your application, describing (or listing out) what existed before, what you are proposing, and noting why you are doing so. **We request that you note in your rationale<\/a> that you have completed Step 1 above (note the names\/roles of the people you contacted and that they approved). This will help ensure that all programs impacted by an ARC proposal are aware of changes being made to their programs in the 2026-27 catalog.** We recommend typing up your rationale (e.g., on a Word Doc) before starting your ARC application<\/span>, so that you can later copy and paste it into CourseDog.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Please consult the ADA-compliant 2025-2026 Syllabus Template Form<\/a>\u00a0to ensure that every syllabus contains the elements on that template. You must include a syllabus for every course referenced in your application (e.g., a syllabus for a new\/revised course, relevant syllabi for courses in a new\/revised program). <\/span>If your syllabi do not have the elements specified on the ADA-compliant 2025-2026 Syllabus Template Form<\/a>, the entire proposal will be sent back to you to revise.<\/li>\n
  4. Please consult this regularly updated CourseDog Tips & Tricks <\/a>link before starting your application(s).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    2025-2026 ARC Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    After completing the steps above, here is how to complete your ARC application(s):<\/p>\n

    1. Log into CourseDog here,<\/a> using your Ramapo email to sign in. If needed, here is the URL to access the system: https:\/\/app.coursedog.com\/#\/login?continue=%2F<\/a><\/li>\n
    2. Upon entering CourseDog<\/a>, click “New Proposal” under the “Actions” heading on the right.<\/li>\n
    3. Fill out your application! If you do not complete your application in one sitting, it will automatically be saved in drafts (left-hand side of CourseDog<\/a>\u2019s home screen). You will be asked to fill in\/upload the exact same information ARC paper\/email applications asked for in the past. The system will gather all necessary signatures for you, and you will be able to track your application’s progress in the system as it moves to ARC and eventually to the Provost’s Office. Note: The earliest any changes applied for in 2025-2026 can take effect is the following academic year: 2026-2027 (please indicate 2026-27 in the “effective start term” field on CourseDog<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
