In promoting service, the Center aims to support a lifetime commitment to civic engagement within the student body.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"clear: both\">Community Partners and Projects<\/h2>\n<p>The Civic &amp; Community Engagement Center (CCEC) works with a variety of community service partners and hosts service trips for students to attend during weekdays and weekends so that they can give back to their community. Below are partners we worked with throughout the most recent semester!<\/p>\n<div class=\"accordions\">\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Big Brothers Big Sisters<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mentornj.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Brothers Big Sisters&#8217;<\/a> one-to-one mentoring relationships support the critical social and emotional development needed to help build resilience and promote the mental health and well-being of thousands of children we serve across America. Now more than ever, Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the country are stepping up to find innovative ways in serving our communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Mahwah Environmental Volunteer Organization (MEVO)<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mevo.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MEVO\u2019s<\/a> strives to be the model for the creation of scalable ecological solutions that inspires and empowers people to take action for a better future.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Part of this mission is to build grassroots momentum for the environmental movement within local communities and to inspire individuals to create long-term change within their communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MEVO enacts their mission by helping communities create social value change to achieve a better and healthier future through strategic volunteerism and directive education.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Food Pantry of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The mission of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttshpantry.org\/#!about_us\/csgz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Community Food Pantry<\/a> is to provide relief to those in need in the Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown communities. The Pantry began as an initiative of Kids\u2019 Club of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow in December of 2009 as a way to address the issue of hunger within our community. That one time distribution of food has become a monthly event, currently serving about 450 families.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Mahwah Senior Activity Center<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The philosophy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mahwahtwp.org\/205\/Senior-Activity-Center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mahwah Senior Activity Center<\/a> is based on the premise of keeping our seniors in Mahwah healthy, active, and aging wisely. They believe that each individual has the right to achieve their maximum potential and be given the opportunity for community involvement through wellness, social, creative, cultural and other various recreational programs offered at the center. It is their goal to provide outlets for all members to achieve self-development that will afford them personal enjoyment and satisfaction.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Rebuilding Together North Jersey<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rtnorthjersey.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rebuilding Together North Jersey<\/a> (RTNJ) was originally founded in 1998 by the Junior League of Bergen County as Rebuilding Together Bergen County. The organization is dedicated to providing low-income homeowners with critical repairs and modifications needed to live safely in their homes. In 2016, they expanded to serve more communities in northern New Jersey, beginning with Paterson and Passaic County.\n<ul>\n<li>Through the generosity of skilled trades professionals, community organizations, and hundreds of general volunteers, who donate their time and talents, RTNJ is able to help at <em><strong>no cost<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to the homeowners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Flat Rock Brook Nature Center<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flatrockbrook.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flat Rock Brook Nature Center <\/a>is a 150-acre nature preserve and environmental education center in Englewood, NJ, just two miles from the George Washington Bridge. One of the last remnants of the Palisades Forest, the preserve is managed by the Flat Rock Brook Nature Association. Their mission is to maintain the land preserve as a natural sanctuary for plants and wildlife in our urban area and as a nature preserve available to the public for trail walks, nature study and other passive recreation. They provide environmental education programs for thousands of students and the general public each year to create an understanding and appreciation of nature and to instill a sense of responsibility to protect it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Other Community Partners<\/p><div>\n<p>We have contact with the following partners but are not currently offering service trips.
